Remember to call me when you’re feeling blue
Don’t follow the rules go on and speak your truth
I’ve got you playing on my team
With the kind of people that sweep you off you’re feet
When you’re writing a thousand words
Leaving this town could make you feel complete
You’re bleaching you’re hair with colors from your dream
Going under cover trading secrets with your lover, that’s my scene
Oh, you never have to know
Keep it inside yourself when you’re writing a thousand words
You’re always writing a thousand words
Full grown and road worn
Find the key to back talk
Assume the shortcuts
Prepare for the worst luck
No cheat books
Replacements for closed doors
Following the release of Jay Som’s critically acclaimed sophomore album, Anak Ko (2019), the band’s creative force, Melina Duterte, is already back with 2 beautiful new songs. “A Thousand Words” and “Can’t Sleep” both give listeners a crystal clear reminder as to what made Jay Som one of the most popular indie acts of the last few years.
"'A Thousand Words' was made after a year of extensive touring plus a cancelled tour," explains Duterte. "I forced myself to make a sort of big and jovial song to bring me out of the funk I was in - I also wanted to remind myself that music can be fun!. Heavily inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Elliott Smith, Pavement and that song 'Alright' by Supergrass."

This album is so beautiful, it hurts, especially 'yellow is the color of her eyes'.
But I can't choose a favourite song because each one corresponds to a different mood. All the musicians are dope, and Sophie Allison is a very talented songs writer and musician/singer. Saramachine

I've wanted this album on vinyl since the day it came out, but have been too broke to buy it until now. I love it. It's somehow even better than Everybody Works. The guitar and vocal parts are especially phenomenal. A.T.L
